00:00 - so I'm out just checking be yards this 00:02 - afternoon just to check up on my babies 00:04 - to see how they're doing this is one of 00:06 - my more exposed yards I've I was unable 00:10 - to get this yard out because well the 00:12 - rains came three weeks ago and as I'm 00:15 - unable to access this yard so I couldn't 00:18 - move them out as you can see they're 00:21 - quite exposed except for this little 00:25 - bluff of trees here which kind of caught 00:29 - a bit of snow which helped a lot of the 00:32 - yard is buried which would have 00:34 - protected these colonies the clusters 00:36 - from that brutal wind that came with 00:39 - that snowstorm some of the colonies over 00:41 - there 00:42 - not so much what in the wide open and my 00:45 - entrances weren't reduced enough so I 00:49 - was a little concerned about the wind 00:51 - blowing on the clusters there but by the 00:53 - looks of it the hives had nicely iced 00:55 - over so I I'm thinking the ice probably 00:59 - protect the clusters from that wind 01:04 - starting to melt now I won't take long 01:06 - to melt the snow they're talking 12s 01:09 - like as far as I would as I can see so 01:12 - the snow is gonna disappear hopefully 01:15 - the water run away and you know get rid 01:19 - of this white stuff I don't expect the 01:22 - land to firm up any we're getting kind 01:24 - of late in the season for that but if 01:26 - anything if we can get rid of this snow 01:28 - and then maybe that frost will come in 01:30 - as November approaches that's about our 01:34 - only hope so if we get a little bit of 01:36 - frost set in I'll be able to walk into 01:37 - these yards and pick them up quite easy 01:40 - and it's just just hope that the next 01:43 - snowfall stays away until we're able to 01:46 - get more of our work done here 01:56 - nice and cozy down there nicely melted 02:09 - caverns so these guys would have been 02:11 - protected from the wind not a problem 02:14 - both that caverns these guys that were 02:23 - more exposed you can see I didn't have 02:25 - the entrance is reduced can I got caught 02:28 - off guard there a bit so the wind would 02:33 - have come in from that direction right 02:36 - across the yard like that so these guys 02:41 - their entrances wide open those clusters 02:55 - are right there 02:58 - that affected no bees and dead bees or 03:01 - nothing 03:05 - so this is what I'm assuming happened 03:08 - the hives probably got iced over just 03:11 - like this and I would have protected the 03:14 - clusters from that wind now that's 03:17 - melting away 03:28 - you can hear them just humming inside 03:35 - sounding quite content it's like little 03:52 - caves 04:09 - look these guys up 04:26 - feels about done 04:49 - great big boxes of these so that's good 04:55 - that's I'll just quit fretting about 04:57 - this yard these colonies obviously 05:00 - didn't see any different with that 05:02 - brutal wind that hit them obviously they 05:05 - must iced over the clusters showing no 05:09 - signs of stress I mean they're hanging 05:10 - right to the front entrance so it's not 05:12 - like the wind pushed them back at all so 05:15 - I'll just let this snow melt and 05:18 - hopefully the frost sets in and then I 05:21 - can get these guys out I just wandered 05:26 - into another yard found just a little 05:28 - bit of trouble last one pail this wasn't 05:41 - because of the wind guys you're just 05:45 - flying down there because of cattle 06:00 - scratching so this colony has been 06:08 - exfoli exposed through all this weather 06:13 - let's take a peek inside 06:25 - and you wouldn't know any different 06:29 - nicely clustered so I'm gonna put these 06:35 - guys back together and weight them down 06:39 - with this full tail of syrup maybe when 06:45 - it warms up they'll go come up in access 06:47 - so this will need another top so so 06:55 - there's no bother it's like little hive 07:10 - igloos

00:00so I'm out just checking be yards this
00:02afternoon just to check up on my babies
00:04to see how they're doing this is one of
00:06my more exposed yards I've I was unable
00:10to get this yard out because well the
00:12rains came three weeks ago and as I'm
00:15unable to access this yard so I couldn't
00:18move them out as you can see they're
00:21quite exposed except for this little
00:25bluff of trees here which kind of caught
00:29a bit of snow which helped a lot of the
00:32yard is buried which would have
00:34protected these colonies the clusters
00:36from that brutal wind that came with
00:39that snowstorm some of the colonies over
00:41there
00:42not so much what in the wide open and my
00:45entrances weren't reduced enough so I
00:49was a little concerned about the wind
00:51blowing on the clusters there but by the
00:53looks of it the hives had nicely iced
00:55over so I I'm thinking the ice probably
00:59protect the clusters from that wind
01:04starting to melt now I won't take long
01:06to melt the snow they're talking 12s
01:09like as far as I would as I can see so
01:12the snow is gonna disappear hopefully
01:15the water run away and you know get rid
01:19of this white stuff I don't expect the
01:22land to firm up any we're getting kind
01:24of late in the season for that but if
01:26anything if we can get rid of this snow
01:28and then maybe that frost will come in
01:30as November approaches that's about our
01:34only hope so if we get a little bit of
01:36frost set in I'll be able to walk into
01:37these yards and pick them up quite easy
01:40and it's just just hope that the next
01:43snowfall stays away until we're able to
01:46get more of our work done here
01:56nice and cozy down there nicely melted
02:09caverns so these guys would have been
02:11protected from the wind not a problem
02:14both that caverns these guys that were
02:23more exposed you can see I didn't have
02:25the entrance is reduced can I got caught
02:28off guard there a bit so the wind would
02:33have come in from that direction right
02:36across the yard like that so these guys
02:41their entrances wide open those clusters
02:55are right there
02:58that affected no bees and dead bees or
03:01nothing
03:05so this is what I'm assuming happened
03:08the hives probably got iced over just
03:11like this and I would have protected the
03:14clusters from that wind now that's
03:17melting away
03:28you can hear them just humming inside
03:35sounding quite content it's like little
03:52caves
04:09look these guys up
04:26feels about done
04:49great big boxes of these so that's good
04:55that's I'll just quit fretting about
04:57this yard these colonies obviously
05:00didn't see any different with that
05:02brutal wind that hit them obviously they
05:05must iced over the clusters showing no
05:09signs of stress I mean they're hanging
05:10right to the front entrance so it's not
05:12like the wind pushed them back at all so
05:15I'll just let this snow melt and
05:18hopefully the frost sets in and then I
05:21can get these guys out I just wandered
05:26into another yard found just a little
05:28bit of trouble last one pail this wasn't
05:41because of the wind guys you're just
05:45flying down there because of cattle
06:00scratching so this colony has been
06:08exfoli exposed through all this weather
06:13let's take a peek inside
06:25and you wouldn't know any different
06:29nicely clustered so I'm gonna put these
06:35guys back together and weight them down
06:39with this full tail of syrup maybe when
06:45it warms up they'll go come up in access
06:47so this will need another top so so
06:55there's no bother it's like little hive
07:10igloos
