Next Year’s Problem

00:02 - so we're not making out very well in the 00:04 - feedlot a lot of the animals are still 00:06 - out to pasture so we're doing our best 00:09 - to get them feed some of the grass is 00:12 - poking through now so they're able to 00:14 - graze a little bit and we're anxious to 00:18 - get this silage crop off we had a 00:21 - monster crop this year we're pulling off 00:25 - you know over 30 tons an acre it'll be 00:29 - nice to get this into pile just we're 00:34 - gonna have trouble traveling you still 00:41 - have still lots of moisture here so 00:43 - we're not running out of time first off 00:46 - we put up maybe is a little bit high but 00:48 - so we have got still wet there's a lot 00:55 - of moisture in there so we're not we're 00:59 - not running out of time is just we need 01:01 - to be able to get this bloody crop up in 01:05 - the pile but we can't do it because this 01:07 - snow layer doesn't seem to want to leave 01:09 - us and has just turned the field into a 01:10 - slop so we're gonna have to as soon as 01:14 - the Sun does come out to dry the roads 01:19 - we're gonna have to leave ruts through 01:22 - the field and it'll be next year's 01:25 - problem I guess we have to worry about 01:29 - one thing at a time here and the prayer 01:31 - are the priority is to get this crop in 01:35 - so we're not actually in too bad a shape 01:37 - we have all the cereals and oil seeds 01:40 - put up we got that without any rain we 01:45 - started early we rented another combines 01:47 - we had four going and we put everything 01:50 - up tough every bushel we combined was 01:52 - tough big crop I mean it just wasn't 01:54 - coming dry so we just went anyways we 01:57 - have these big aeration bins and we even 01:59 - took advantage of that and recycling it 02:01 - through our dryer so it's adding another 02:03 - layer work but at least we got the crop 02:07 - in the bin where we can at least manage 02:09 - we've walked in that quality so that 02:12 - allows us to rest a little bit better 02:16 - tough decisions being made but it looks 02:19 - like we made the right one on that all 02:21 - we have left now is silage we have a 02:25 - like two or three hundred acres a silage 02:28 - open up yet and grain corn and a couple 02:33 - hundred acres of sunflowers showing my 02:38 - brother the sunflowers or earlier this 02:41 - summer and great big heads on them I 02:43 - have like four or five B yards touching 02:46 - that one field and I made a lot of honey 02:49 - on that great big heads but the problem 02:53 - is now the ground is saturated and 02:55 - terrible winds coming through just 02:57 - knocking him onto the ground so it's not 02:59 - as bad he went up there and looked at it 03:01 - yesterday and actually the snow was 03:03 - holding the bloody plants up so that's 03:06 - good and it's been desiccated so we just 03:08 - have to wait for dry weather we might 03:11 - actually have to wait for frost in that 03:13 - field because it's gonna be hard to 03:14 - travel with the combines as in the corn 03:19 - but like I say we're gonna have to worry 03:25 - about the condition of the you know the 03:28 - field running the fields up we'll have 03:30 - to worry about that next year and just 03:36 - primarily focus on getting this crop off 03:39 - this year because she's a big one and we 03:43 - need to get it sometimes these look at 03:48 - the cobs on their massive 03:56 - these plants are like 15 feet tall look 04:01 - at the corn in that this is a silage 04:06 - variety so it it never does dent so we 04:10 - don't like we're we're just wanting 04:12 - volume and tonnage and energy and this 04:16 - this crops got it 04:18 - this is pride so we've pissed away the 04:25 - last month so much work to do but you 04:29 - just can't get anything done because 04:31 - it's been raining and wet so just got to 04:38 - be patient and let everything just 04:42 - happen I guess
