OH THE SNOW, October 10 2019

00:00 - so Kari and I are pulling hives out from 00:03 - the wet yards of the apiary the summer 00:07 - has been so hot and dry I guess I just a 00:12 - little nonchalant about recognizing I 00:15 - gotta get these wet yards out and good 00:17 - time and fall just in case it gets wet 00:19 - and I can't access them and sure enough 00:23 - here we are having trouble accessing 00:26 - some of these yards because in the last 00:28 - three weeks we've had a tremendous 00:30 - amount of rain and we're looking ahead 00:33 - and if I take the worst forecast it 00:36 - looks like we might be getting a foot 00:37 - and a half of snow so if we get a foot 00:39 - and a half of snow there's no way I'm 00:40 - gonna be walking in Angelov frost to 00:42 - pick these up with a bee truck tried 00:44 - coming into this yard yesterday and I 00:48 - made it about a mile and the front end 00:51 - was starting to disappear on me so I got 00:52 - out just got out but I'm able to walk in 00:55 - here with the half-ton we kind of 4x4 00:58 - kind of float over top of the mud so 01:01 - three miles down on a dirt really we 01:04 - called gumbo down a gumbo dirt back road 01:08 - and we poked into the yard and we're 01:11 - just hand bobbing these hives onto the 01:12 - truck so nothing like good old back work 01:17 - hives are in good shape we're gonna have 01:20 - a nice flight day today but it looks of 01:22 - it the a pre is kind of perked up and 01:25 - they're actively flying and they're 01:28 - bringing it loads of pullin so we still 01:30 - have clovers we still have a lot of 01:31 - wildflowers go with goldenrod and just a 01:33 - smattering of plants around these bees 01:36 - are collecting which is really positive 01:38 - so I'm afraid that we didn't get the 01:41 - work done quick enough this morning 01:43 - these guys have perked up we're gonna 01:44 - have to set down a couple catch nukes I 01:49 - think we'll come back here and pick them 01:51 - up tonight just to show our due respect 01:54 - to the bees and gather up all the 01:56 - stragglers that I've been out foraging 01:57 - the nests are sharing it gets smaller so 12:08 - the mites really have no place to hide 12:18 - I'm doing here today we're just dropping 12:21 - a little bit of syrup I want to show you 12:23 - why we're taking a little bit extra 12:25 -
